Korovai and Wedding Favours

After a winter hiatus, I am back with some fresh ideas! I have a few completed projects tucked away in folders that have been waiting to get published. So I’m moving the needle today with a short post. Better a bit of something than a whole lot of nothing, am I right?

The korovai and wedding favours featured in this story were commissioned last September, pretty much at the same time as we were putting an offer on our new house! (Ah, the pang of nostalgia as I see bits of our old house appearing in the background on the photos… Needless to say, we love our new home. Fortunately, this one can handle three growing boys, and I can’t wait to make new memories here in the years to come. We’re here to stay!)

But I digress… I love the korovai design they chose: it’s elegant and traditional, the beaded eternity band provides visual intricacy, the wheat peeking out at the base adds texture and symbolism. But let’s be honest, I love the favours even more. I have a soft spot for these korovaichyky. How cute are they?!

This order came from Sherwood Park, just outside Edmonton, and I am so happy to be able to serve the Ukrainian community on the other side of the country. I had several orders come in from central and western Canada – thank goodness for great shipping options nowadays. I hope to be able to fulfill orders from all over Canada this coming wedding season. We’ll see what 2020 will bring my way!
